We'd all like some extra money to spend on our horses, here are a few ways that I have found to earn some extra money to spend on Legacy. Now all of these ways are easy but unfortunately not all of them are quick, but they are great to do when you're bored. They are all pretty much survey based and they mainly take no longer than 20-30 minutes as an estimated time they give. Depending on how efficient you are they could take half that time. 

The first one is one that I'm quite new to but have already earned £5 on. It's Swagbucks on this you can earn points by doing quite a few different things. You can earn points on this site by  

- Answering surveys

- Watching Videos

- Searching the web through them

- Playing games

& Shopping through them and earning a percentage back. 

So far all the money I have earned is by answering surveys and I've only been doing this here an there for the last 2 weeks. 

The next one is Top Cashback and I've been using this one for a while. Since I've been using this site I've earned £53.10 back through my shopping. Here is an image of my equestrian retailers.

You can see that since using this site I've spent £157.06 on Robinsons equestrian (which is no longer featured on the site, but Sports Direct is) and earned £8.36 back, now that doesn't seem a lot but it's your own money that you've got back for nothing. Same again with Derby House, I've spent £87.50 on this site and had £6.08 back through Topcashback. How much you get back is depending on the rate at that current time, typically they stay between 4-6%. Other sites you can get cashback though these are Naylors, PetPlan Equine and Church Equestrian. 

After That I like to use YouGov, this is a site that allows you to give your opinion on the latest goings on in the world from the government to the latest football game. These types of questions and polls are ones that you do for free, these then qualify you for the surveys. For me as I haven't done much of the qualifying questions I get on average 1-2 surveys a week. Each survey is typically worth 50 points and takes 10-15 minutes long but I've done some in 5 before. These are nice quick and easy surveys which can be done over breakfast. You need to earn 5,000 points before you can cash out anything but these 5,000 points also equal £50. This will be a nice little extra for me when it gets to that time. 

The last one I use is Opinion Outpost, this is the one where I have found it easiest to cashout money. You only need 50 points to cashout £2.50 and this can go straight into your Paypal account. Most surveys on this range between 5-25 points. The higher the points worth the longer the survey takes but I don't think I've ever done one more than 30 minutes. The surveys on this one can be a little hit or miss to if you will qualify for them but it's worth trying each one as it's only a few seconds/minutes of your day if you don't. It can get a little disheartening when you are refused for a few surveys in a row but it's best to stick at it. So far I have saved up £25 on this site and I'm planning on buying Legacy a new waterproof fly rug with the money from this. It's worth the little bit of extra time when you get can things like that.

 Another way I try to save up money is to put away any loose change I have in a tin. I either try to make my loose money up to a whole number in my purse and the rest will go in the tin or I will put anything up to the value of 20p into the tub. If I have the spare money I will throw in a £1 here an there. It all adds up in the end if you manage to not take any out.

Shires Tempest 300g Combo Review

I know it's a bit late on in the year but I just had to write my review on this rug now, it couldn't wait until next winter. Although I bet there are some clipped or even unclipped horses out there now still in medium-heavy or heavy weight rugs the weather has been so awful in this country recently. And with another set of bad weather supposed to be on it's way soon before we get the nice weather I thought I'd throw this in there now. This is a great rug to have if a heavyweight is too warm and a medium weight is too cold. 

This is the Shires Tempest Original 300g Combo Rug. 

Some of the key features for this rug are:

- Breathable ShireTex Outer

- 300G Quilted Polyfill

- Tapered Seams

- Blanket Set Breast Fastenings

- Velcro Closure on Neck

- Adjustable Cross Surcingles & Fillet String

& A Tail Flap.

To the left is a picture of Legacy when she first got the rug, before she went out and rolled in it to cover it in mud. 
The rug fits her body shape really well, she's had no rubs on her shoulders, withers or her mane. I know that some people really struggle to find combo rugs that don't rub away any part of the mane. 
I've always been really lucky with Legacy and all of her combo rugs have fit really well and I've been able to avoid this. 
This rug has a nice sized neck that doesn't leave too much behind the ears exposed, another great part about this neck is that it stays in place and doesn't slip down towards the body. There is a velcro neck closure on the neck where it folds back on itself through rings for security. 
The tail flap on this rug may only be small in comparison to others but it's attached in a way it gives great protection from the weather elements. It always stays down and never flaps back up onto the body of the horse.




Although this rug is only 600D, it's managed to survive 2 winters without any rips or leaks. Legacy is good when it comes to not making holes in rugs and looks after them but there is bit's of barbed wire around the field because of the sheep so there is always that possibility when the horses are playing or trying to get to grass. 
Legacy has worn this rug in some bad weather this winter including some of the recent storms and it has held up really well. Not once has the rain been too much and the rug has started to leak or get damp. 

Overall I would really recommend this rug and I would definitely consider buying a Shires rug when I'm in need of one next. 

My Rug Buying Obsession.

My name is Pheobe and I have a rug buying obsession. I hate to admit it buy it's something I just can't stop buying and if I manage to not buy I spend a lot of time searching and finding the best deals. Although I love to build Legacy's rug collection, I always make sure I buy them in the sales. Save money where I can ;)

When the weights of the rugs get heavier I like to make sure she has a spare or more than one around that weight just in case anything happens. She's very good at keeping her rugs in good condition minus the mud and most of her rugs are 1200D, but I like to be on the safe side to prevent her having to stay in her stable if anything ever happened to her rug.

360g Standard Neck. 

All her stable rugs are Weatherbeeta apart from her 300g's which are Gallop & Harrison Howard.

After that she also has a standard neck fleece, a scrim cooler, fly rug, ride on fleece exercise rug and a hi-viz net ride on sheet.

At the moment I am searching for a new 100g standard neck for her, eyeing up the new Weatherbeeta Genero 100g rug, A waterproof fly rug, looking at the premier equine one, a waterproof ride on exercise rug to encourage myself to ride in the rain and another medium weight/220g/200g standard neck stable, and I'm possibly looking at a cooler sheet depending on how warm of a spring/summer we get this year.

The searching for these rugs is keeping me satisfied for now, although the 300g combo and 200g standard neck are both brand new within the last 2 weeks. The changing seasons keep making me look. Soon I'll either have to ban myself from the equine sites, unsubscribe myself from the email updates or loose my card before I end up in rug buyers anonymous.
