Towards the end of September Legacy rapidly started to loose weight, everything she had stored up was gone in a week and a half. After speaking to a friend from work, she thought it might be worms, having wormed her routinely with the other horse in the field and poo picking regularly I didn't think this would be it. But after having the vet out he couldn't see anything wrong with her physically apart from the weight loss, he took a blood sample for the results to come back saying that he think's there's a very high chance what was wrong with her was worm burden and me worming her had sorted her out. 

So after I'd sorted that out I then had the task of getting the weight back on her, she'd gone from condition score 2-3 down to a 1 in just a short amount of time. As she was already on Readymash extra to gain a little weight before winter I finished that bag off along with the rest of the Baileys Everyday mix, then changed her over to Baileys No.4 Topline Cubes with Graze-On Dried Grass. She was on 2 feeds a day of these plus she was then getting a massive hay net throughout the day. It took her about 2 weeks for her to start showing some difference. First it went to her belly underneath, then over her ribs, and then she finally started to get a good bum. I would say she's now back to where she was before she lost the weight if not looking slightly better. To maintain her condition she is not on Allen & Page Calm & Condition with Graze-On dried grass.

Now we have the task of getting some muscle over her top line as she's quite bare along there. Obviously when her weight was down she had some time off work, but now she's back in work and we're attempting the joy of jumping, we're only working at them in trot as she's still got some work to do with her canter, but I'm hoping as she get's to know what to do with the poles I will be able to use these to slow down her canter. Any suggestions how how I can stop her speeding off when she's in canter or she'll be in a nice canter and then will speed up and take off will be great-fully taken :)

New Page! Legacy's Feed!

I don't know if anyone's notice but I've just added a new page in the header bar. It's called Legacy's feed, it's a page where I show and write about what she get's in her daily meals from hard feed to supplements. It's just a little breakdown as to why she's on that feed and if she's doing well on it so far. Who knows the page might be changing quite a bit of the time depending on if she's stays well on them or I decide to add anything extra in, keep an eye out. Hopefully sometime soon I will also be posting reviews on the supplements mentioned if I haven't done one already.
